Georgia’s ports are vital economic engines. In fiscal 2024, port trade supported 650,965 full- and part-time jobs, an increase of 41,770 jobs, up 7%, sustaining 12% of total state employment.

Imports and exports include forest products, food, automobiles, machinery, retail goods, and furniture, fueling growth in transportation, logistics, and manufacturing. Governor Brian Kemp emphasized that ports are key to Georgia’s pro-business environment, while Jeff Humphreys of the University of Georgia noted that ports drive development across nearly every industry.
